Client background and market position

The client operates in the Romanian art market, connecting artwork owners, art enthusiasts, and professional appraisers around paintings and sculptures. The commercial premise depends on presentation quality: buyers and collectors judge a piece partly on how it is shown, and valuation only becomes a service once owners have a straightforward way to submit a work for professional review. The brief called for a consumer portal that treats artwork with the seriousness of a physical gallery.

Operational and technical bottlenecks

• No single frame asset can serve a catalogue of mixed proportions. A static frame stretches or crops on anything but one shape, and rebuilding it from repeating pieces introduces a visible join at every repeat. Either failure reads as cheap on exactly the asset the business is asking people to value and buy.

• Mixed-size artworks break conventional grids. Works of vastly different dimensions leave gaps and visual imbalance in standard layouts, which makes a curated collection look like an unsorted upload folder.

• Volume works against fidelity. Hundreds of high-resolution images and their frame pieces rendering at once cause memory pressure and long waits without deliberate optimization, and a gallery that stalls loses the browsing session the business depends on.

Redbee took the visitor-facing product end-to-end, from architecture to the last frame corner. Frame rendering and layout were built first, to the highest tolerance, and the valuation intake, the market data, and the editorial section were built around them.

• Dynamic frame generation. Removes the distortion. A frame is assembled per piece from separate corner and side images, cut to that artwork's own dimensions, with every join masked so the result reads as solid wood or gilt at any zoom level.

• Mosaic grid views and bidirectional carousels. Removes the imbalance. Custom placement logic calculates the arrangement for each set of images, so collections stay balanced without anyone hand-tuning them.

• Digital appraisal module. Creates the route from public interest to professional valuation. A detailed data-collection form captures a piece's details from its owner and delivers the submission into the appraisers' back office.

• Market indicator dashboards. Gives visitors a reference for value. Interactive charts present artwork quotes and public auction histories beside the work itself.

• Frontend performance work. Keeps volume from costing fidelity. The render path was optimized so hundreds of high-resolution images and their frame pieces load in one view without memory leaks or load-time regression.
